Multiple BTCC champion Andy Rouse turns to Oliver Myles Marketing to relive glorious days on the track

Overview
- Andy Rouse is a 4 times BTCC champion, with 60 race wins and a host of class championships and a career that stretches back to the mid 1960's.  Andy is synonymous with success through his first-class and inventive engineering, business abilities and driving talents.

Requirement:
Digitise Andy's 2500+ press clippings and images onto secure USB. Currently all images and clippings are stored in the loft area of Andy's residence.

  

Wheel to wheel racing, seeing the chequered flag and tasting the champagne. Over the course of a glorious racing career, Andy experienced this on many occasions. When you achieve the successes Andy Rouse did, you quite rightly get plenty of press attention. With a racing career that stretched from 1966 to 1995 and with success in every category he raced in, the spotlight was on Andy due to his considerable abilities.

Background to project
Family, friends, fans, associates and suppliers would often send in articles and clippings of Andy and his team following their successes on road and track. In latter years, members of the media have contacted Andy to ask for his views on a particular race so the digitised clippings are really handy to have on hand to recall a particular race/event.

Chris Phillips from Oliver Myles Marketing (OMM) has kept in touch with Andy over the years, and in an effort to find a way to save his precious career history Andy contacted OMM. The brief was to sort all his clippings into years, organise for them to scanned and saved onto a USB memory stick. When three large boxes arrived at OMM, work started immediately on finding a partner to organise the scanning. Once confirmed, an estimate was quickly organised and agreed between Andy and OMM

Requirement
In total there was in excess of 2800 items to be scanned, and there was a variety of sizes and volumes. Each year was catalogued into a specific box, so when the items were sent to the Digitising agency there were 30 boxes of highly original, never to be repeated press mentions for a man who was always at the top of his game.

Outcome
Carefully and painstakingly, the items were scanned and documented and returned approximately one month later. Chris at OMM recognised the highly prized nature of the completed USBs, and organised some branded presentation boxes in Andy’s famous crash helmet colours so they would be regarded as a keepsake, rather than just another USB cluttering a desk.

As Andy explains: “I had all these fantastic mementoes that I had collected over a period of 30 years that were lying around in boxes in my loft. I really wanted to access the press clippings and use them by sending them out to people who request them. Easier said than done! Then Chris came along and we quickly discussed how we could catalogue these.

Chris' interest in motor sport was very helpful, and his actions demonstrated that he is a first class marketer. His communications were excellent – he kept me abreast with various updates and sought my counsel as the client, when required.

I'm delighted with the outcome. The press cuttings were organised on a USB, clearly segmented by year and file type. Chris organised a copy of the press clippings in the very impressive box – with my own brand! - for my son and daughter to keep. The attention to detail was superb, but I wasn't surprised. The care Chris and OMM took was impressive. With transparent, itemised pricing I knew exactly what I was getting – it capped a superb experience. The paper clippings could have been lost, damaged or dare I say burnt in a fire. Now they are catalogued, the quality is so good you would never know that you were reading them on screen. It brings my racing heyday back to life and reminds me of things I'd totally forgotten about.”
